Chapter 146
Isabella spoke up quickly. "Today, my son Julian kidnapped Harrison. Nathaniel rushed over to rescue her, and now he's holding my son hostage. Mr. Falcon refuses to release him, all because of Harrison."
What?
Victoria's expression changed instantly. No wonder Nathaniel had abruptly left Dr. Sinclair's lecture today.
He had gone to save Harrison.
How many times had this happened now? Last time, Harrison had been kidnapped by Vincent, and Nathaniel had been the one to save her.
Now Nathaniel had gone as far as holding Julian captive?
The Falcon and Ashford families had connections - for Nathaniel to go this far, did Harrison mean that much to him?
Victoria clenched her fists.
Reginald studied her carefully. "Ms. Whitmore, everyone knows you're Mr. Falcon's favorite. No amount of pleading from us compares to a single word from you. If you speak to Mr. Falcon, I'm certain he'll release my son."
At this, Victoria, Theodore, and Beatrice exchanged knowing smiles.
Victoria's lips curved into a playful smirk. "So that's all you needed from me? Very well, I'll go speak to Nathaniel immediately."
"Ms. Whitmore, we can't thank you enough! We'll await your good news."
Victoria left to find Nathaniel.
Theodore chuckled. "Mr. and Mrs. Ashford, you shouldn't have troubled yourselves coming here for something so simple. Don't worry. Mr. Falcon adores Victoria - this will be effortless for her."
Beatrice added with a smile, "Young Julian is such an exceptional man - I'm sure many girls pursue him. Harrison must have seduced him and caused this mess. Now, let's enjoy some tea."
The four sipped their tea contentedly, with Reginald and Beatrice showering Theodore and Beatrice with compliments.
"Mr. Whitmore, Mrs. Whitmore, you've raised an extraordinary daughter!"
Theodore and Beatrice beamed with pride. Victoria was indeed their greatest achievement.
Inside Rosewood Manor, Harrison had just finished bathing when the maid arrived with an ice pack. "Mrs. Falcon, Mr. Falcon asked me to bring this for your face. It will help reduce the swelling."
Nathaniel had thought to send an ice pack.
Harrison felt warmth spread through her chest. It seemed whenever she was in danger, he was always there.
"Where is he?"
"Mr. Falcon is in the study."
"Then I'll go see him."
Harrison stepped out, intending to thank Nathaniel personally. But her steps faltered when she spotted Victoria.
Victoria was here.
The two women faced each other in the hallway.
Victoria's cold gaze took in the red, swollen mark on Harrison's face before arrogantly scanning her from head to toe. "I heard Julian kidnapped you. What do you plan to do about it?"
Harrison met Victoria's stare with icy detachment. "He committed a crime. Naturally, I'll ensure he faces justice."
Victoria sneered, stepping closer. With a gloating smirk, she taunted, "Well, prepare to be disappointed! The Ashfords came begging to me. All I need to do is say the word, and Nathaniel will release Julian. Don't believe me? Wait by the door and listen."
Harrison's long lashes fluttered slightly.
Victoria lifted her chin in triumph, about to walk away, then paused. A malicious smile played on her lips as she added, "By the way, you just came from the master bedroom, didn't you? That bed is so comfortable - I adore sleeping in it."
Harrison froze.
"You're always lurking in the shadows, coveting everything I possess, aren't you? Envious that I have a mother, that I have Nathaniel. Sometimes I pity you - no one truly loves you."
