Chapter 766
Rosalind grabbed her phone and quickly typed a message to Harrison. [Harrison, you there?]
Harrison had just returned to Rosalind's apartment after completing an emergency surgery at the hospital, needing to retrieve her medical bag.
Her phone vibrated with Rosalind's incoming message.
She replied, [At your place now. What's going on?]
[Major development! I just spotted Isabella at The Grand View!]
The name "Isabella" made Harrison's slender fingers freeze mid-air. Instantly, Nathaniel's face flashed through her mind.
Before she could respond, another message popped up. [Isabella claims Nathaniel personally invited her to dinner here tonight!]
What?
Harrison's breath caught. Nathaniel invited Isabella to dinner?
Just yesterday he'd promised to accompany her to the courthouse for their marriage license. Now he was dining with Isabella? This made no sense.
Rosalind continued typing furiously. [What game is Nathaniel playing? If he's really here with that witch tonight, I swear I'm disowning him as my cousin!]
Harrison could practically feel Rosalind's rage through the screen, but maintained her composure. [Just eat your meal first.]
Setting down her phone, Harrison's mind swirled with images of Nathaniel's chiseled features. Truthfully, she couldn't fathom his motives either.
Suddenly, the sharp chime of the doorbell echoed through the apartment.
Who could be visiting at this hour?
Harrison rose gracefully and moved to answer the door.
Meanwhile at The Grand View, Isabella had already drained three cups of espresso.
A nervous waiter approached. "Ms. Lancaster, would you care for another coffee?"
Isabella's expression darkened. She'd been waiting a full hour with no sign of Nathaniel. Not even a text message.
The waiter suggested gently, "Perhaps you should call Mr. Falcon to confirm his arrival?"
A mocking laugh came from across the table. Rosalind, who'd been observing this spectacle for the past hour, smirked. "So let me get this straight - Nathaniel invited you, yet he's nowhere to be seen? Curious timing, don't you think?"
Isabella's face flushed with anger. She'd been so certain Nathaniel would appear, ready to witness Rosalind's humiliation.
But with Nathaniel's conspicuous absence, the power dynamic had shifted dramatically.
Rosalind had stayed specifically to watch Isabella's downfall.
The situation was becoming unbearable.
Isabella snapped at the waiter. "Are you implying Mr. Falcon won't honor his commitment?"
The waiter wiped his brow nervously. "N-No, madam, I merely suggested—"
"Enough!" Isabella's voice turned icy. "I know exactly what you're implying!"
"Give it a rest, Isabella." Rosalind's laughter cut through the tension. "Don't take your frustration out on the staff. Why don't you call Nathaniel yourself if you're so confident?"
Isabella's jaw clenched. Nathaniel had extended the invitation personally last night. Under the influence of the Heartchain Curse, he couldn't possibly resist her. There had to be an explanation.
"Fine," she hissed. "You'll see! I'll call him right now and he'll come straight here!"
