Chapter 608
My Father, Please Come 608
Everett shook his head vehemently, his expression one of wounded loyalty. "It's not me! I've been by your side for years—how could I betray you to the police?"
Shadow's piercing gaze shifted like a blade. "If not you, then it must be you." His finger jabbed toward Dominic.
Dominic didn't flinch. His eyes, cold and unyielding, locked onto Shadow's. Without a word, he reached behind his neck and retrieved a concealed tracker and wire.
"Correct. It was me." His voice was steel. "Every word you just said was transmitted directly to the authorities. The stain of 'drug lord' on my father's name—I'm here to erase it. What he never got to say, I'll declare to the world: He was an undercover narcotics officer."
Everett staggered back as if struck. "Y-Your father was—"
Shadow's face twisted with recognition. "I knew those eyes... They're his. You're his son."
Dominic didn't blink. "Yes. He was my father."
Everett's hands trembled. "So it was all a lie! You never intended to marry my daughter—you used me to get close to Shadow!"
The realization crashed over him. Every moment, every word—Dominic's entire presence had been a meticulously crafted trap.
Outside, tires screeched. A fleet of police vehicles surrounded the building, officers swarming with weapons drawn. At the forefront stood Lawrence, the grizzled detective, megaphone in hand.
"Shadow! Everett! You're surrounded!" His voice boomed. "Surrender now, or face the full force of the law!"
One of Shadow's men burst in, panic etched across his face. "Boss! We're trapped!"
Shadow's glare could have frozen hell. "You little rat," he spat at Dominic. "Never thought I'd be outplayed by you. But I don't surrender." He turned to his men. "We fight our way out."
Chaos erupted.
Lawrence grabbed Dominic's arm, yanking him toward an exit. "Kid, move! This place is a death trap!"
Dominic's gaze stayed fixed on Shadow, who was carving a brutal path through the officers with a submachine gun.
"I'm not leaving," Dominic said flatly. "My father let him slip once. Not again."
"Your father and I were partners," Lawrence growled. "I failed him then—I won't fail you now. Move!"
But Dominic wrenched free and charged straight at Shadow, blocking his escape. "You're going nowhere."
Shadow's smile was lethal. "Then you'll die here."
Their clash was brutal. Dominic fought with precision, but Shadow was a seasoned killer. Blows landed, blood sprayed—neither gave ground.
With Shadow distracted, his men fell one by one. Everett crumpled to his knees, hands raised. "It's over! They've got us!"
Dominic seized the opening, lunging to tackle Shadow—
—only for Shadow to twist, a knife flashing in his hand. The blade sank deep into Dominic's side.
Lawrence moved like lightning, slamming Shadow against the wall. Cold metal clicked around his wrists. "Game over."
He turned to Dominic, voice tight. "You cleared your father's name. But you're bleeding out. Hospital. Now."
Dominic shoved him off, jaw set. "Later. There's someone I need to find first."
The bloodstain on his shirt spread like ink.
