Chapter 746
"Nathaniel, what's the meaning of this? Why did you take Charlotte away?" Harrison's voice trembled with barely contained fury.
"Meet me at Falcon Enterprises. My office." His tone left no room for negotiation.
"I—" Harrison hesitated.
The hour was late, and their last encounter in his office had nearly spiraled out of control.
Going there again at night? Absolutely not.
Nathaniel cut off her protest. "Charlotte is here. If you don't come tonight, you won't see her again."
Her blood ran cold. "What are you implying? She's my daughter! What game are you playing?"
"Is she only yours?" His voice was deceptively calm, razor-sharp beneath the surface.
Harrison froze, fingers tightening around her phone. A dreadful realization crept in. "Explain yourself."
"Tell me first. Does guilt weigh on you?"
"Guilt? What nonsense is this?"
"Is Charlotte only your daughter? Who is her father?"
Her breath hitched—
"I'll be waiting."
The line went dead before she could respond.
Harrison stood motionless, pulse roaring in her ears. She had no choice. Nathaniel knew.
Within minutes, she was dressed and speeding toward Falcon Enterprises.
The CEO's office door swung open under her frantic push. "Where is she?"
Nathaniel leaned back in his chair, watching her. "You came."
"Charlotte. Now."
He reached for a remote. The lounge curtains parted with a whisper, revealing floor-to-ceiling windows.
There, curled beneath silk sheets, Charlotte slept soundly on the massive bed.
Harrison's panic eased—only for a sharp pang of jealousy to strike. Her daughter looked so peaceful here, so comfortable with Nathaniel.
Too comfortable.
He stood, closing the distance between them. "She's fine. Asleep."
"I'm taking her home."
"No." The refusal was absolute.
Harrison's eyes flashed. "She's my child. I have every right—"
"Let me ask again." His voice dropped. "Is she only yours?"
A folder slid across the desk.
Her hands shook as she opened it. The DNA report glared back, undeniable.
"It's true," she admitted hoarsely. "She's yours."
Nathaniel stepped closer, heat radiating between them. "Then why the lies? I deserved to know!"
"Isabella was always by your side. I didn't want Charlotte to become your burden."
Silence.
"I'm leaving with her."
His hand caught her wrist. "She's mine too. I'm keeping her."
Harrison recoiled as if burned. "What? You'd fight me for custody?"
The air crackled with unspoken threats.
Nathaniel's smile didn't reach his eyes. "Try me."
