Chapter 919

"I'm getting emergency contraception for you."

Rosalind froze.

Her secret pregnancy made this impossible. She couldn't risk harming the baby.

"No," she refused sharply.

Lucian arched an eyebrow, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Why not? We didn't use protection last night. Unless..." His voice dropped to a dangerous purr. "Are you hoping to conceive my child?"

Rosalind's throat tightened. Trapped. If she took the pill, she'd endanger her unborn child. If she refused, he'd assume the worst.

"That's absurd," she deflected, fingers twisting in her lap.

Lucian chuckled darkly as he pulled into a pharmacy parking lot. "My genes are quite the commodity, darling. Brilliant mind, excellent physique, generational wealth." He cut the engine with a smirk. "Can't blame women for trying to... collect."

Her pulse spiked. That was exactly her original plan - raise their genius child alone.

Now everything was unraveling.

Lucian's gaze turned serious. "We're done, Rosalind. No accidental pregnancies complicating things." He reached for her wrist. "Let's handle this like adults."

Panic surged as his fingers closed around her arm. She instinctively cradled her stomach. What if he forced her to abort? Or worse - took her child after birth?

The pharmacy's bell jingled as Lucian dragged her inside.

"Afternoon!" The middle-aged pharmacist beamed. "Newlyweds?"

Rosalind opened her mouth to correct her, but Lucian smoothly pulled her closer. "Wife's not ready for motherhood yet," he lied effortlessly, his breath hot against her ear. "Play along unless you want rumors spreading, sweetheart."

Her cheeks burned at the endearment. This man would be the death of her.
