Chapter 302
Rosalind was absolutely stunning. She possessed that refined elegance only found in aristocratic circles - a soft, luminous beauty. With the birthmark vanished, a delicate beauty spot now graced the space just below her right eye, completing her transformation.
Gasps rippled through the crowd. They'd just witnessed an ugly duckling become a swan before their eyes.
Isabella and Arabella stood frozen, their eyes widening in shock. Rosalind's birthmark... was gone?
How?
Harrison withdrew her hand. "All finished."
She produced a small hand mirror and offered it to Rosalind. "Meet your new reflection."
Rosalind took the mirror with trembling fingers. The face staring back couldn't possibly be hers.
Her fingertips brushed against her smooth right cheek. After a stunned pause, tears welled in her eyes.
On countless sleepless nights, she'd wondered what cosmic crime she'd committed to deserve such a fate.
Through her tears, Rosalind looked up at Harrison. Harrison's eyes sparkled with quiet satisfaction as she murmured, "Rosalind, you're exquisite."
Joy threatened to burst from Rosalind's chest. She wanted nothing more than to throw her arms around Harrison.
Then Julian's voice shattered the moment. "This has to be some trick!"
Rosalind turned. Her delicate features now fully visible, Julian froze as if struck by lightning.
Rosalind wasn't hideous after all.
She was... breathtaking.
A cold smile curled Rosalind's lips as she met Julian's gaze.
"Now I see you for who you really are, Julian. We both know the truth here. I won't waste another second on someone like you. Our engagement is over. From this moment forward, we're strangers."
She turned to leave.
Then a tall, imposing figure entered her field of vision - Everett had arrived.
Rosalind's pulse stuttered. She hadn't expected to see Everett on campus today.
Everett showed no interest in the gathered crowd. Carrying a coat over one arm, he strode purposefully toward the lecture hall.
Rosalind's face lit up as she hurried after him. "Everett, wait!"
As she pursued Everett, murmurs spread through the onlookers.
"Isn't that Everett Sinclair? The campus heartthrob?"
"He barely attends classes, yet girls still chase him constantly. Mostly society heiresses."
"Has Rosalind set her sights on Everett now?"
"First she dumps Julian, now she's after Everett?"
Julian knew Everett well. In high school, Everett had been the state's top science student while Julian placed second.
Both had enrolled at Willowridge University, becoming the school's most sought-after bachelors. Of course Julian knew him.
Now Rosalind was leaving him for Everett? Had she fallen for the man?
Julian's hands clenched into white-knuckled fists.
Rosalind caught up to Everett. "Everett, hello!"
Everett glanced at her with icy detachment.
His indifference stung.
Rosalind smiled anyway, her round face lighting up with charm. The beauty mark beneath her eye accentuated her delicate features. "Don't you remember me? I'm Rosalind!"
Before she could continue, a rough hand seized her wrist. She turned to face Julian's furious expression.
Julian's jaw clenched. "Rosalind, what the hell is this?"
