Chapter 234

Harrison could turn to Alexander for help.

Harrison arrived at Alexander's mansion and froze at the sight of his assistant packing luggage.

"Alexander, what's happening?" Harrison asked, bewildered.

Alexander gave her a charming smile. "Father just called. There's trouble with one of our overseas branches. I need to return immediately."

The Graves family had moved their operations abroad years ago, with assets spanning multiple countries. Alexander's current visit had been merely a short vacation.

But his abrupt departure, especially now, made Harrison suspect Nathaniel's involvement.

Had Nathaniel secretly arranged this to get Alexander out of the way?

"Did you need something?" Alexander's voice was gentle.

Harrison shook her head. "No, nothing important."

"Harrison," he said, his gaze softening with unspoken affection, "do you want me to stay?"

She knew this was his final test of her feelings. A single word from her would make him cancel his flight.

"I'm not worth it. You'll find someone far better than me."

Harrison offered no false hope, no empty promises.

Alexander wasn't surprised. He'd harbored feelings for Harrison from the beginning, but she'd always kept him at arm's length. Now, he was ready to move on.

"Very well. I should leave now."

"Let me drive you to the airport."

"No. If you see me off, I might change my mind."

Harrison stopped mid-step. "Goodbye, Alexander."

Alexander smiled and opened his arms, pulling her into a brief embrace. "We'll always be friends. Call me anytime."

"Okay."

He released her and left with his assistant.

Once Alexander was gone, Harrison finally looked away. She needed a new plan to save Gabrielle.

Then inspiration struck.

Harrison quickly typed a message on her phone.

Arriving at Falcon Enterprises, Harrison approached the reception desk. "Hello, I'd like to see—"

Before she could finish, the receptionist gasped in recognition. "Mrs. Falcon! What brings you here?"

Harrison stiffened. Their marriage was supposed to be secret. Since she rarely visited Falcon Enterprises, how did staff recognize her?

"Mrs. Falcon, you're here to see Mr. Falcon, right? Please follow me."

The receptionist ushered Harrison directly to the elevator heading for the CEO's office.

As they passed through the open workspace, employees' eyes lit up. Each one nodded respectfully. "Mrs. Falcon."

Harrison blinked. "You all know me?"

"Of course! You're still at Willowridge University, right? We saw Mr. Falcon get summoned as your representative during that faculty meeting." Harrison fell silent.

She hadn't realized her "academic exploits" had become office gossip. Everyone seemed fascinated by her relationship with Nathaniel.

"Don't mind us. Most of us weren't top students either. But no worries! Mr. Falcon graduated from Westfield - a certified genius. He'd be happy to help with your coursework, I'm sure!"

Harrison remained silent, unsure how to respond.

The receptionist led her to a conference room outside the CEO's office. "Mrs. Falcon, please wait here. Mr. Falcon is currently meeting with important international clients."

Through the floor-to-ceiling glass, Harrison could just make out Nathaniel inside.
