Chapter 926

"What? How?" Genevieve's grip on her phone turned white-knuckled. "They've reconciled."

Impossible!

Julian Blackwood nearly launched from his chair. After all the meticulous scheming with Genevieve, their efforts had crumbled to dust?

"This can't be happening. I won't allow it!" Julian's voice dropped to a dangerous growl. "If I can't have her, no one will."

"Precisely my thoughts," Genevieve replied icily. "I suggest you devise a new strategy immediately."

Rosalind Fairchild stirred awake, stretching like a contented cat. Her lashes fluttered open to find Lucian Graves' chiseled features mere inches away.

She froze. The last thing she recalled was dozing off on his office sofa. How had she ended up cradled against his chest?

Rosalind bolted upright. "Your meetings concluded?"

Lucian set aside his documents, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Hours ago. Do you realize you've been sleeping like the dead?"

A glance at the clock sent panic through her veins. Two entire hours had slipped away - two hours curled against Lucian's warmth.

"My apologies. The fatigue..." she began.

Lucian leaned back, his smirk infuriating. "Who knew you transformed into a koala when exhausted?"

"A koala?" Rosalind's cheeks burned. This pregnancy exhaustion was no laughing matter!

She glared. "This is entirely your fault! And you dare mock me?"

"My doing?" Lucian's arm snaked around her waist, yanking her flush against him before she could react.

Rosalind's palms flattened against his chest. "Release me this instant! We're in your office! I'll scream!"

Lucian's eyebrow arched. "And say what, exactly?"

"That you're assaulting me!" she hissed. "Let's see how your employees regard you then!"

His grin turned wolfish. "Be my guest. I've nothing to hide."

Rosalind gaped at his shamelessness. "You're utterly—"

"Utterly what?" Lucian purred, tightening his hold. "Explain how your marathon nap is my responsibility."

"Insatiable," she muttered.

The nights since their reconciliation played in her mind - passionate, unprotected encounters that undoubtedly led to her current condition. The man was... proficient.

Lucian's gaze darkened with heat. "Is that praise for my bedroom skills?"

Rosalind refused to acknowledge his virility. "You exhausted me last night! No wonder I crashed today!"
