Chapter 284
Arabella grabbed her phone and dialed Isabella's number. Hearing that Rosalind had waited for hours at the theater only to return soaking wet, Isabella burst into uncontrollable laughter.
"This is priceless! The Fairchild family's precious little princess? Who cares about her wealthy background? She's nothing but a plain Jane. Arabella, you're brilliant! Julian is completely under your spell now."
A smug smile played on Arabella's lips. "Don't celebrate too soon. The real show starts tomorrow."
Isabella cackled. "Serves her right for conspiring with Harrison against us. Consider this her wake-up call. I expect even better news from you soon."
"Relax, Isabella. Everything's going according to plan."
Harrison didn't return to the dorm until well past midnight. The room was pitch black, all lights switched off.
Was Rosalind still out on her date? Harrison assumed she must be having the time of her life.
Flipping the light switch, Harrison gasped at the sight of a small, trembling figure curled up on the bed. Rosalind had returned early and was already under the covers.
Harrison frowned. "Rosalind? You're back already? How was your date with Julian?"
Rosalind kept her back turned. "It was fine. I'm exhausted. Goodnight."
Harrison gently pulled the blanket over her shoulders. "Sleep well then."
Grabbing her pajamas, Harrison headed for the shower.
Beneath the covers, Rosalind's face was streaked with silent tears of humiliation and heartbreak.
Morning light revealed swollen, red-rimmed eyes when Rosalind finally awoke. Harrison had already left for the day after her night of endless crying.
Rosalind dragged herself to the bathroom to wash her face. Just as she finished, a thunderous knock shook the dorm door.
"Coming!" she called weakly.
Her blood turned to ice when she opened the door. Julian stood there, his expression stormy. He'd come to confront her personally.
Was this an apology?
Even if it was, she wouldn't accept it.
"What do you want?" Rosalind's voice trembled despite her efforts to steady it.
Julian's eyes burned with accusation. "Why did you send thugs to attack Arabella?"
Rosalind recoiled as if struck. "Someone attacked Arabella?"
"Don't play dumb!" Julian snarled. "They beat her bloody and threatened her to stay away from you."
"That's impossible!" Rosalind protested. "I would never—"
Julian cut her off with a disgusted sneer. "Rosalind, I never thought you could be this vicious. Let me make one thing clear—"
