Chapter 475
Nathaniel had made his choice - Isabella.
The front door swung open with a sharp creak. Harrison stood frozen in the doorway.
Their heated argument had carried through the halls. Now she witnessed Nathaniel clutching Isabella in a passionate embrace.
Harrison's breath hitched.
Nathaniel turned at the sound, reluctantly breaking contact. Their eyes locked across the threshold.
An unexpected pain lanced through Nathaniel's chest. Releasing Harrison felt more agonizing than anticipated.
Isabella's lips curled in victory. She released a theatrical gasp. "Oh!"
Nathaniel's attention snapped back to her. "What happened?"
"My leg," Isabella whimpered, batting her lashes. "It's completely numb. Carry me inside."
Without hesitation, Nathaniel swept her into his arms.
He strode past Harrison, acutely aware of her piercing stare. Isabella smirked over his shoulder, savoring her rival's defeat.
The door clicked shut behind them.
Harrison remained motionless in the hallway, her expression carefully blank. She absently touched her flat stomach before turning away.
Inside, Nathaniel deposited Isabella onto the plush bedding.
"You can't abandon me now," she purred, tracing his jawline. "My condition worsens daily. Harrison must treat me - she owes us that much."
The real challenge lay ahead - forcing Harrison to heal the woman who destroyed her family.
By choosing Isabella, Nathaniel had aligned himself with the Whitmores. Harrison would now see him as the enemy.
"I'll handle it," Nathaniel stated firmly. "She'll save you, willing or not."
Isabella's eyes glittered with triumph. No matter how brilliant Dr. Sinclair might be, Nathaniel's influence would bend her to their will.
She wrapped her arms around his neck. "You're perfect. Tonight, I'll show my gratitude."
Isabella leaned in for a kiss.
Nathaniel turned his face away.
"What's wrong?" she pouted. "Don't you want me?"
Gently removing her hands, he murmured, "Let's save that for our wedding night."
Isabella's face lit up. "Yes! Once I'm healed, we'll marry immediately. I'll give you so many children - enough for our own football team!"
Nathaniel smiled indulgently. "Rest now. I have documents to review."
As he exited, Isabella reclined against the pillows, basking in her victory. That stolen crystal pendant had been her masterstroke.
Now Nathaniel would never doubt she was his childhood savior. As long as she held that truth, his loyalty would remain unshakable.
