Chapter 509
Rosalind's heart raced with anticipation. She knew Harrison possessed the perfect strategy to expose Isabella, the deceitful pretender.
The mere thought of Isabella impersonating Harrison and flaunting false authority made Rosalind's blood boil. The moment Harrison revealed Isabella's true nature would be absolutely breathtaking.
Yet...
Rosalind studied Harrison's face, her expression turning solemn. "What about Nathaniel? What are your plans regarding him?"
Nathaniel remained oblivious that Harrison was the one who had saved him years ago. How would he react upon discovering the truth? What would Harrison do when that day arrived?
Harrison's voice was barely above a whisper. "I'm exhausted."
She wanted to escape.
Loving Nathaniel all these years had drained her.
This world had never truly been her home, but Nathaniel's presence had anchored her. Now, she was ready to let go.
"But he's been manipulated by Isabella all this time. He's blind to reality, yet he's also a victim. He doesn't know it's you," Rosalind argued, defending Nathaniel. She still clung to hope that Harrison and Nathaniel could reconcile.
Harrison shook her head. "Let's not discuss this further."
Rosalind exhaled in resignation. "Fine. You should rest. Lie down."
Harrison settled onto the bed, closing her eyes.
Meanwhile, in Isabella's hospital room, Nathaniel had returned.
Isabella immediately pounced. "What did Harrison say to you?"
Nathaniel remained silent.
"Did she slander me again? Try to seduce you? She's vile. You must stay away from her!" Isabella's words tumbled out, defensive and frantic.
Victoria chimed in, "Harrison is cunning and vindictive. She manipulates people effortlessly. Don't be fooled by her innocent facade."
Nathaniel lifted his gaze, his icy stare sweeping over them. "Harrison has agreed to perform the heart surgery."
What?
Both women gasped, their faces lighting up with glee. "Really? She'll do it?"
Nathaniel gave a curt nod. "Yes."
Victoria beamed. "Marvelous! You're saved, Isabella! Harrison finally agreed."
Isabella sighed in relief. "I'll be healthy again! Free from this wretched condition."
Nathaniel's eyes narrowed. "Minutes ago, you were vilifying her."
Isabella froze, recalling their harsh words. She forced a laugh. "Nathaniel—"
He cut her off. "Rest. I'm leaving."
Without waiting for a response, he turned on his heel.
"Wait!" Isabella cried desperately. "You promised to stay! Nathaniel? Nathaniel!"
Her pleas fell on deaf ears. Nathaniel vanished down the hallway.
He was gone.
Isabella's face fell. "Mother, what's wrong with him? Why is he so distant?"
Victoria, however, was euphoric. "Mr. Falcon adores you. Never doubt that. It's because of his pressure that Harrison agreed."
Isabella's mood brightened. "True. He loves me. Once I'm healed, no one will control me anymore!"
Victoria's eyes glittered. "Exactly! He promised to marry you once you're well. You'll bear his children and live as Mrs. Falcon—surrounded by unimaginable luxury!"
