Chapter 481
"Do you mean Lideran and Cerrosbi together?" the private physician inquired, studying Isabella's tense expression.
"Yes," she confirmed, her fingers tightening around her phone.
"Are you expecting?"
Expecting?
The question struck Isabella like a physical blow, rooting her to the spot. Her breath hitched as she managed to whisper, "Dr. Sinclair, what exactly are you implying?"
"Both Lideran and Cerrosbi are herbal remedies used to prevent miscarriage."
Prevent miscarriage?
Harrison was taking these? Was she pregnant?
Isabella's mind reeled. The possibility had never crossed her mind. She knew Harrison and Nathaniel had been intimate, but Nathaniel despised children. He wasn't the type to let such a complication arise - not with the Falcon legacy hanging in the balance.
Yet... Harrison was pregnant.
Isabella stumbled backward, her shoulder hitting the wall as she struggled to steady her breathing. Could the child be Nathaniel's?
Wait... It might also be Oliver's.
But feminine intuition rarely lied, and Isabella's gut screamed that this was Nathaniel's offspring.
What now?
Panic surged through her veins.
Isabella raced home, her movements frantic.
Victoria noticed her daughter's ashen complexion immediately. "Darling, you're shaking!" She grasped Isabella's ice-cold hands. "What's happened?"
"Mother... we have a problem."
"Isn't everything settled with Mr. Falcon? He's made his choice, hasn't he?"
Isabella's grip turned vice-like. "Harrison's pregnant... with Nathaniel's child!"
Victoria blanched, her voice rising an octave. "What? Harrison's pregnant? Are you certain? How could she possibly be carrying Mr. Falcon's child?"
The news seemed impossible.
"I'm absolutely sure. What do we do? If Nathaniel discovers this, will he keep it? He may hate children, but this would be his firstborn! His heir!"
Nathaniel would become a father.
Victoria's expression hardened. She understood the significance of a man's first child. Even if Nathaniel rejected the baby initially, his feelings toward Harrison would inevitably shift.
Guilt could transform into something far more dangerous in a man's heart. A clever woman could weaponize that guilt indefinitely.
Victoria composed herself swiftly. "Breathe. We'll handle this."
"How can I breathe? I just stole Harrison's pendant to secure Nathaniel, and now this! I won't lose everything - I can't!"
Victoria seized her daughter's shoulders. "Does anyone else know?"
Isabella shook her head violently. "I doubt she's told a soul."
A calculating gleam entered Victoria's eyes. "Then we have nothing to worry about. That child in Harrison's womb belongs to Oliver."
"But my instincts-"
"No," Victoria cut in sharply. "That child is Oliver's. It doesn't matter whose seed actually planted it. As long as Mr. Falcon believes it's Oliver's, our problem disappears."
Understanding dawned in Isabella's eyes, a wicked smile curling her lips. "Mother, you're absolutely brilliant!"
