Chapter 947

Lucian's hand shot up. "Restrain him!"

His security team in dark suits surged forward, seizing the trembling physician.

Every masked medical staff member in white coats was swiftly apprehended and forced to their knees.

Holding Rosalind protectively against his chest, Lucian's icy gaze burned with barely contained rage. "What did you administer to her? If you've harmed her or our child, none of you will leave this room alive."

The lead doctor's forehead glistened with sweat. Julian had barely departed when Lucian stormed in. He deeply regretted ever accepting this assignment.

Trembling, he parroted the script Julian and Genevieve had prepared. "Mr. Graves, we didn't force Ms. Fairchild. She... she came voluntarily. The termination was her decision."

Lucian went rigid, his grip tightening around Rosalind. "Repeat that."

The nurse stammered, "It's true, sir. Ms. Fairchild scheduled the procedure herself. She said the pregnancy was accidental—that she wasn't ready for motherhood."

Another nurse added hastily, "We were only following protocol! Please, we're just medical professionals doing our jobs!"

A deafening roar filled Lucian's ears. His vision blurred at the edges.

Rosalind didn't want their child?

She'd chosen to end their baby's life?

Impossible.

Gently laying Rosalind on the gurney, Lucian advanced on the cowering doctor. His polished Oxford crunched against the man's ribs. "Liar! Rosalind would never—"

Wheezing, the doctor produced a tablet. "The authorization form bears her signature! See for yourself!"

Nathaniel stepped forward. "Sir, all surgical consents are digitally archived. I'll verify the records immediately."

"Now," Lucian snarled.

As Nathaniel hurried out, Lucian loomed over the medical team. "If this is fabricated..." He left the threat hanging.

Moments later, Nathaniel returned, face grim. "The system shows Ms. Fairchild personally completed the paperwork at 9:17 this morning."

Lucian's complexion turned ashen. "That's a forgery."

Nathaniel hesitated. "The biometric verification matches her hospital records."

The medical staff exhaled collectively. Their contingency preparations had worked.

The damning document displayed Rosalind's elegant signature beside a thumbprint scan.

She'd rejected their child.

Lucian stumbled backward as if struck. Nathaniel caught his elbow. "Sir?"

Lucian's crimson-rimmed eyes stared unseeing. Now he understood her ignored calls. While he'd been selecting nursery furniture, she'd been here—ending their future.

She'd concealed the pregnancy because she'd never intended to continue it.

But why? After everything they'd—

"Mr. Graves..."

Shrugging off Nathaniel, Lucian returned to Rosalind's side. The sedative still held her unconscious.

His voice cracked. "Is the baby...?"
