Chapter 24
The sudden chime of a phone shattered the tense silence. Alexander's name flashed on the screen.
Harrison immediately knew. The Velvet Lounge. That's where Alexander wanted him.
With a sharp turn, Harrison redirected his car toward Willowbrook's elite district. If anyone could track down that Ferrari's owner in this city, it was Alexander.
Meanwhile, Gabrielle cheered as they sped through the narrow alley. "Harrison! You lost him!"
Her celebration was cut short by a deafening crash.
The Ferrari's front end crumpled against the brick wall.
Harrison's hands trembled on the wheel. Three years since her last race, and now this high-stakes chase had left her pulse racing.
They stepped out to survey the damage. The Ferrari's hood was now a mangled mess.
"Harrison... what now?" Gabrielle's voice shook as badly as her legs.
Taking a steadying breath, Harrison reached for her phone. "Dominic will handle this."
At The Velvet Lounge's most exclusive booth, two men commanded attention.
Alexander lounged in the center, Harrison taking the seat beside him. The undisputed kings of Willowbrook's elite circle. Every woman in the room stole glances their way.
Arabella practically glowed. Her long-time crush had finally returned! She batted her lashes at Harrison, inching closer on the plush seating.
Isabella occupied the space beside Alexander, surrounded by their usual entourage of wealthy heirs. Laughter and clinking glasses filled the air.
"Harrison! Years abroad and you finally grace us with your presence!" Sebastian raised his glass.
The group erupted in good-natured teasing.
"Tell us, Harrison - are the women overseas really more exciting than our Willowbrook beauties?"
Harrison swirled his drink, lips quirking. "None compare to what Willowbrook offers."
"Exactly! Our finest ladies are right here - Isabella and Arabella!"
Isabella preened at the compliment, accustomed to such praise as Willowbrook's reigning beauty.
Arabella gazed at Harrison through her lashes, hoping to catch his eye.
But Harrison's attention remained fixed on Alexander. "I need you to find someone."
Their glasses clinked. "Man or woman?"
"A woman."
Alexander smirked. "That explains your tardiness. Someone caught your interest?"
Harrison chuckled.
Years of friendship meant Alexander could read him effortlessly. "Must be someone special. What's she like?"
Harrison considered. "Like a storm wrapped in silk. One look and your world tilts."
The group fell silent. Sebastian blinked. "A Willowbrook woman?"
"Not Isabella or Arabella? Who could possibly intrigue our elusive Harrison?"
The question hung in the air. Harrison, known for his discerning tastes, had never shown interest in any woman before.
Isabella's smile faltered. Arabella stiffened.
Harrison pulled up the Ferrari's license plate photo. "Find out who owns this."
