Chapter 682

The Daughter Returns

"Yes, I'm Harrison," she declared without hesitation.

Henry Lancaster studied the young woman before him with newfound respect. It wasn't every day he encountered someone so composed in the cutthroat world of high finance.

"How may I assist you?" he inquired politely.

Harrison's lips curved into a knowing smile. "I've just arrived in Metropolia and wished to see your family estate."

She needed to accompany Henry to the Lancaster mansion immediately.

Henry raised an eyebrow before chuckling. "You wish to tour my home?"

"Indeed. I've heard remarkable things about Lancaster Manor. Thought I should witness its grandeur firsthand."

Though uncertain of her true motives, Henry nodded graciously. "Very well. My car is waiting."

Harrison hadn't anticipated such easy compliance. "You're most kind, Mr. Lancaster."

Meanwhile at the estate, Isabella paced the marble floors anxiously. Last night's disastrous attempt to trap Harrison at the private vineyard still haunted her. Not only had the plan failed spectacularly, but she'd nearly been exposed before barely escaping.

Sleep had been impossible. She'd been awake since dawn, knowing her father would return today. During Henry's overseas trip, she'd enjoyed unchecked freedom as the heiress to the Lancaster fortune. But with him home, reckless behavior wasn't an option.

The sudden ringing of her phone shattered the tense silence. One of the black-clad operatives.

"Who authorized this call?" she snapped. "I explicitly said no contact unless I initiate it! Just follow the damn plan!"

Isabella couldn't risk these mercenaries making mistakes that might lead back to her.

The gruff voice responded, "We know the rules. This was supposed to be one job, but Mrs. Victoria and the girl are still our responsibility. The situation's getting hot. Price just went up."

They were extorting her now.

Isabella exhaled sharply, lowering her voice. "Understood. You'll get your bonus - just keep them hidden."

"Payment today. No delays."

"Don't push me!" she hissed. "My father's arriving any moment. Once I deal with him, you'll get your money. And remember - if my father discovers this, none of us survive!"

"Ms. Lancaster-"

Before the threat could continue, a maid's voice echoed through the hall. "Ms. Lancaster! Your father has arrived!"

Henry was home.

Isabella ended the call abruptly, forcing a bright smile as she turned toward the entrance.

The grand double doors swung open, revealing Henry flanked by his butler and personal assistant.

"Daddy!" Isabella rushed forward, arms outstretched. "You've been gone forever! I missed you terribly."

Henry smiled warmly, tousling her hair affectionately. "And I you, my dear."

As Isabella moved to link arms with him, a familiar melodic voice cut through the reunion.

"Hello, Isabella."

She froze.

Turning slowly, Isabella's blood ran cold at the sight of Harrison standing calmly behind her father.

Harrison had actually come to Lancaster Manor!

Her face drained of color, eyes widening in shock. "What are you doing here? This is my home! How dare you-"

Harrison's smile deepened, her gaze knowing. "Oh Isabella... I came especially to see you."
