Chapter 456

Isabella nodded, desperation lacing her voice. "Okay, Dad. Please hurry."

"Don't worry. Get some rest. I'll handle everything," Theodore reassured her.

With that, Isabella retreated to her room.

Theodore and Victoria returned to theirs. After a quick shower, Victoria climbed into bed. Theodore joined her moments later.

Victoria turned to him, serious. "Theodore, you have to help her."

Theodore sighed. "How?"

Victoria's voice turned urgent. "Contact that man from the Capital. Once he steps in, Harrison is nothing. Compared to him, she's just an ant waiting to be crushed."

Theodore hesitated. "But her birth mother didn't want her past revealed. She didn't want Isabella going back."

Victoria grew frantic. "She's in danger now! Without the Capital's power, we're finished. Besides, what's so bad about going back? She could be one of the most powerful women there!"

Theodore needed time. He hadn't forgotten Isabella's biological mother's dying wish, but Harrison had backed them into a corner.

He glared at Victoria. "Look what you've done! How did Harrison become this strong? It's like she could destroy us with a snap of her fingers!"

Victoria flinched but stayed silent.

"Do you really hate her that much?" she asked.

"Of course I do! Anyone who threatens Isabella is my enemy!"

Victoria smiled slyly. This was exactly what she wanted.

If Theodore knew the truth—that Harrison was the one he was supposed to protect—she couldn't imagine his reaction.

Victoria had obsessed over Theodore for years. In her eyes, no one else mattered.

She leaned in, pressing against him. "Honey, it's been so long since we've been close. Don't you miss it?"

Her fingers trailed under his shirt.

Theodore pulled away sharply. "Not now. Too much is happening. Let's just sleep."

He turned his back to her.

Victoria lay there, fists clenched.

Not in the mood?

She knew about the women he kept around—especially that secretary with eyes like hers.

Victoria hated that woman.

Just like she hated Harrison.

She wanted them all gone.

Especially Harrison.

She wanted her dead.

Nathaniel returned to Rosewood Manor but didn't enter his apartment. Instead, he stood outside Harrison's door, his expression unreadable.

Since discovering she was Dr. Sinclair, he hadn't spoken to her properly.

He raised his hand and pressed the doorbell.
