Chapter 575
Rosalind froze in place, her gaze locked with Everett's.
Everett went rigid, every muscle in his body tensing.
Genevieve, noticing Everett's stare, followed his line of sight. "Who is that?" she asked.
Everett remained silent.
Without a word, Rosalind turned on her heel and walked away. The air felt thick, suffocating—she didn't belong here.
In her haste, she collided with a middle-aged man.
Rosalind immediately apologized. "I'm so sorry!"
The man scowled. "Sorry doesn't fix anything. Damn it, I've already lost a fortune today, and now this—just my luck..."
When his eyes landed on Rosalind's face, he stopped mid-sentence. Her delicate, youthful features caught him off guard.
He looked her up and down, his expression shifting. "Didn't expect someone like you to be here."
Rosalind, fresh out of university, wore a cream-colored sweater with a pleated skirt, layered under a white puffer jacket. Her dark hair was pulled into a high ponytail, giving her an innocent, almost ethereal aura that starkly contrasted with the casino's gilded decadence.
The man's leer made her skin crawl. She frowned. "I said I was sorry."
She tried to sidestep him.
He blocked her path. "Leaving so soon? Why not stay and have some fun with me?"
Rosalind's voice turned icy. "Move. I'm going home."
The man chuckled. "Home? I can give you a better one."
Disgusted, Rosalind turned to leave again.
But the man grabbed her wrist, yanking her back. "Don't be like that. Stay."
"Let go!" She jerked her arm, but his grip tightened. "If you don't, I'll scream."
"Go ahead," he sneered. "No one here cares."
He tried to pull her closer—
A hand shot out, seizing the man's wrist and wrenching it away from her.
"Who the hell—?"
The man's curse died in his throat when he saw Everett.
His face paled. "E-Everett."
Everett's sharp features were carved from ice, his presence radiating danger. "What do you think you're doing?"
The man forced a laugh. "Just having a little fun with the girl."
Everett's voice dropped to a lethal whisper. "She said no."
The man swallowed hard. "L-Let me go, alright? I won't bother her again."
With a brutal twist, Everett snapped the man's wrist.
A scream tore through the air.
Everett shoved him backward, sending him crashing into the wall.
"You bastard!" The man clutched his wrist, face contorted in pain. "You think you're untouchable just because the boss favors you? Because his daughter wants you? You're nothing but a glorified attack dog. One day, you'll end up dead in a ditch."
Rosalind's fingers curled into fists at her sides.
Everett didn't react. "Maybe. But you won't live to see it." He snapped his fingers.
Two men in black suits materialized. "Sir?"
Everett's command was glacial. "Get him out of my sight."
