Chapter 164

The darkened windows of the Bentley Continental concealed its occupants completely. Harrison couldn't see Nathaniel's face, but she felt the intensity of his piercing stare burning into her and Alexander. Why had he appeared out of nowhere like this?

She turned to Alexander. "It's getting late. I should return to campus now."

Alexander flashed his signature charming smile. "Next time then." His Lamborghini roared to life and disappeared down the street.

Harrison waited until the taillights vanished before approaching the Bentley. She opened the rear door and slipped inside.

The luxury sedan moved silently through the neon-lit streets. Nathaniel's strong hands gripped the wheel, his chiseled profile illuminated intermittently by passing streetlights, creating an aura of dangerous allure.

Harrison broke the tense silence first. "Mr. Falcon, did you need something?"

His voice was ice. "Are you seriously involved with Alexander?"

"Yes."

"You're not his type."

"And why is that?"

"The Graves family would never accept someone like you. They want an heiress from their social circle. You'll never be more than his temporary distraction."

His words stung, but she refused to show it. "Then I'll enjoy being distracted."

Nathaniel's grip tightened on the steering wheel as his eyes met hers in the mirror.

Harrison held his gaze defiantly, a smirk playing on her lips. "What's there to lose? He's handsome, wealthy - exactly what every girl wants."

The atmosphere grew suffocating.

Harrison found it ironic. Nathaniel had been parading Isabella around publicly - who was he to judge her choices? "If that's all, please take me back now."

"Move to the front," he commanded.

Her pulse quickened. What did he want? Was this about settling their unresolved matters?

She slid into the passenger seat and buckled up.

Nathaniel studied her flawless features. "Do you know what I'm thinking?"

Harrison bit her plump lower lip, the flesh blanching then immediately returning to its rosy fullness.

"If you end things with Alexander, I might-"

His words were cut off as Harrison suddenly leaned across and pressed her lips to his cheek.

Nathaniel froze.

She pulled back, challenging him. "Go ahead then."

His Adam's apple bobbed as he scoffed. "Does Alexander know you'd betray him so easily?"

Harrison's eyes locked onto his. "This is the first and last time, Nathaniel. After this, stay out of my life."

The car stopped at a red light. Nathaniel turned his darkened gaze toward her. Harrison's delicate hand moved to his shoulder as she closed the distance between them, capturing his lips in a searing kiss.
