Chapter 213
Nathaniel declared it was over between him and Harrison.
Isabella practically glowed with joy, throwing herself into Nathaniel's arms and clinging to him like ivy. "Nathaniel, I know Harrison has her ways with men. I don't blame you for getting caught up, but I always knew you'd come back to me. Your heart has always been mine!"
True, Nathaniel had developed some feelings for Harrison. But the woman who truly owned his soul was Isabella - his cave girl from all those years ago.
His arms wrapped around Isabella in response.
Theodore watched with paternal pride, his daughter's happiness bringing him peace. If she was content, so was he.
Victoria appeared pleased too, though bitterness flickered in her eyes when she thought of Harrison. That country bumpkin had actually managed to intrigue Nathaniel? Unbelievable!
Meanwhile, Harrison arrived at the hospital to find Alexander already packed and ready for discharge.
"Alexander, I'm so sorry I'm late. There was... something I needed to handle." Harrison's apology was genuine.
Alexander flashed his signature grin. "No worries. Let's get out of here."
"I'll take your bags."
Harrison reached for the luggage but underestimated their weight. Still sore from recent events, she stumbled, nearly toppling over.
"Harrison, watch out!"
Alexander lunged forward, his arm catching her waist. Momentum sent them both tumbling backward onto the hospital bed, with Alexander ending up on top.
At that exact moment, a towering figure appeared in the doorway - Nathaniel.
Since Alexander was being discharged from the same hospital where Isabella was recovering, Nathaniel had come to visit. Instead, he found Alexander and Harrison in what appeared to be an extremely compromising position.
Nathaniel froze, his muscular frame turning to stone.
Just last night, Harrison had rejected him so definitively. Yet here she was, tangled up with Alexander. A cold, mirthless laugh escaped his lips as he turned sharply on his heel and strode away.
"Harrison, are you okay?" Alexander asked, concern etching his handsome features.
She shook her head, still startled. "I'm fine."
Alexander immediately released her and they both sat up. "Forget the bags. I'll have my driver handle them."
Harrison nodded, but then a voice echoed from the hallway - "Mr. Falcon."
Her heart stuttered. Nathaniel? He was here?
She scrambled off the bed and rushed into the corridor. There, disappearing down the hallway, was Nathaniel's unmistakable silhouette.
"Nathaniel!" Her voice rang clear through the hospital corridor.
He didn't turn. Didn't pause.
"Nathaniel!" She broke into a run, desperate to catch him.
Just as she closed the distance, a nurse pushing a medication cart called out, "Coming through! Make way!"
Harrison couldn't react in time. The cart clipped her arm, tearing skin and drawing blood.
"Harrison!" Alexander was at her side instantly, panic in his voice. "Are you hurt?"
She barely registered the pain, her eyes searching the now-empty hallway where Nathaniel had vanished. Her heart sank like a stone.
Later, back in her dorm room, Harrison lay on her bed messaging Gabrielle on WhatsApp.
[Gabrielle, my friend lost her virginity to her husband, but afterward he's been completely distant. What does that mean?]
Romance was still new to Harrison, and Nathaniel had been her first. His sudden coldness after their night together left her confused and aching with unanswered questions.
