Chapter 223
Nathaniel's expression darkened instantly. The memory of Harrison taking the morning-after pill for Alexander still burned in his mind. Their weeks of silence had been his way of creating distance between them.
Yet tonight, she'd returned to the family estate for dinner. He'd foolishly hoped it meant she was reconsidering their marriage.
Instead, she dropped this bombshell.
She wanted a divorce. Immediately.
Did she think he had endless patience for her games?
Nathaniel's grip tightened around her slender wrist, his eyes turning glacial. "Harrison, you came back just to torment me, didn't you?"
She wrenched her arm free. "Don't touch me with those disgusting hands!"
His jaw clenched.
She lifted her chin defiantly, meeting his dangerous gaze without flinching. "Nathaniel, you make me sick."
Sick to her stomach. Sick of everything.
A vein pulsed at Nathaniel's temple as he shoved her against the Bentley Continental. His fingers closed around her delicate throat. "Do you have a death wish?"
Harrison almost laughed at her own naivety. She'd actually believed he might care for her, even a little.
But there was nothing. Only humiliation.
That night she'd given him her virginity, he'd treated her like trash. And now? He was funding her classmate Daphne as his mistress.
Of all women, why her classmate?
Bile rose in Harrison's throat.
Her usually calm eyes burned with unshed tears as she glared at him. "Strangle me if you want. You're still revolting. I want that divorce tomorrow. I'm done being Mrs. Falcon."
Nathaniel saw red. His chest heaved as his icy composure shattered.
She thought he was disgusting?
The feeling was mutual. How many men had she slept with anyway?
He fought to control the storm inside him.
"Explain," he ground out. "What exactly disgusts you?"
"Daphne Sinclair. Did you think I wouldn't find out?"
Nathaniel froze. She knew.
He'd specifically warned Daphne to keep quiet. He couldn't explain why, but the thought of Harrison knowing he'd slept with her classmate unsettled him.
He'd braced for her reaction, but not this level of contempt.
Nathaniel released her throat only to seize her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. His lips curled into a cruel smirk. "Isn't this what you wanted? You told me to find another woman."
Harrison blinked in confusion.
His smirk widened as he patted her cheek mockingly. "Stop pretending, Harrison. When I pursued you, you rejected me. Now you dare judge me for taking Daphne to bed? Let me enlighten you - she pleases me exceptionally well."
Harrison didn't understand everything, but those last words stabbed through her heart.
Daphne pleased him.
The pain in her chest was physical, like a knife twisting.
This was deliberate. Nathaniel wanted to hurt her.
He pressed her harder against the luxury car, his voice dripping with malice. "Daphne was untouched. Pure. I've given her everything - mansions, sports cars, unlimited resources. I made her a star."
