Chapter 225

Harrison lifted her foot, poised to move forward.

The sudden ringing of her phone shattered the tension. Nathaniel was calling.

"Ms. Whitmore. There's an emergency at the police station. You need to come immediately!"

Her stomach dropped. Had something happened to Gabrielle?

Without hesitation, she spun around and sprinted away.

When Harrison arrived, Oliver rushed to greet her. "Ms. Whitmore."

"What's wrong with Gabrielle?" Her voice was strained with worry.

Her question died on her lips as she spotted a familiar figure. Daphne stood there, draped in designer labels as usual, flanked by her entourage. This time, she'd brought two lawyers with her.

Daphne sauntered over with a smirk. "Harrison, I heard you came to bail Gabrielle out. Give it up! Your precious friend is going to rot in there forever. She's never getting out."

Oliver leaned in, whispering urgently. "Ms. Whitmore, Daphne brought Falcon Enterprises' top legal team. They've never lost a case. They've already blocked our bail request. With their involvement, Ms. Sunder's situation looks hopeless." Harrison's blood ran cold realizing how far Nathaniel would go to support Daphne.

Daphne's smug expression intensified as she studied Harrison. "You must know about Nathaniel and me by now, right? I'm sorry, truly. I know he's your husband, but he doesn't love you. Nathaniel and I... we just couldn't resist each other."

Harrison remained silent, her gaze steady.

Daphne lowered her voice with a soft laugh. "Harrison, I also know you and Nathaniel finally slept together recently."

Harrison's pulse stuttered. "How could you possibly know that?"

Daphne arched a perfectly sculpted brow. "Nathaniel told me, of course." He'd shared that with her?

"Harrison, Nathaniel also said you're... underwhelming in bed. No passion at all. One time was enough for him. But me?" She preened. "I satisfy him completely. He calls me his little vixen. Says he's crazy about me."

The floor seemed to tilt beneath Harrison's feet.

Had Nathaniel really said those things?

"Harrison, Nathaniel is incredible. I want to be with him. You're my best friend - I know you'll understand and support me."

With that, Daphne turned sharply, her entourage trailing behind, leaving Harrison standing alone.

Oliver's voice pulled her back. "Ms. Whitmore, we can't win against Falcon Enterprises directly. The only way to free Gabrielle is through Nathaniel."

Go to Nathaniel?

Harrison nearly laughed at the absurdity.

Another ringtone interrupted her thoughts.

She glanced at her screen - Nathaniel was calling again.

After a brief hesitation, she answered.

"Harrison, I'm already at the courthouse." His voice was icy with impatience. "I've been waiting. Where are you?"

Her grip tightened on the phone. She'd forgotten about their divorce appointment. "Nathaniel, there's an emergency-"

"Harrison, what game are you playing now?" he snapped. "You wanted this divorce. Now you're making excuses? I don't have time for your childish games!" So that's how he saw her.

She couldn't confront him yet. She needed his help with Gabrielle.
