Chapter 319
Nathaniel hadn't anticipated Lucas Harrington's arrival. As a man himself, he immediately recognized the growing interest in Lucas's eyes whenever he looked at Harrison.
Lucas was clearly smitten with her.
Harrison glanced briefly at Nathaniel before turning to Lucas. "We'll go with you, Lucas."
Her choice was made without hesitation.
Nathaniel's sharp jaw tightened instantly.
Lucas beamed, opening the car door with a polished smile. "Ladies."
Harrison and Rosalind slid into the sleek vehicle.
Rosalind shot Nathaniel a look—part pity, part satisfaction. Served him right for treating Harrison so poorly. Now, she wanted nothing to do with him.
Nathaniel moved forward, but before he could take another step, a hand clamped around his arm.
Isabella. She clung to him, forcing a saccharine smile. "Nathaniel, were you waiting for me?"
His gaze remained fixed on Harrison.
The luxury car was already pulling away, carrying Harrison with it.
She was gone.
Nathaniel wrenched his arm free. "I'm heading to the office. You can get home on your own."
He turned sharply toward his car.
Isabella's face paled. She darted in front of him, blocking his path. "Nathaniel, I want you to take me home!"
His expression was ice. Their relationship hadn't recovered since the incident with Rosalind. His voice was distant.
"I have work."
"Liar!" Her voice rose. "I heard everything! You and that tech mogul were practically fighting over Harrison. But when I ask, suddenly you're too busy?"
Nathaniel's face darkened. "Isabella."
Her name was a warning, his gaze sharp enough to cut. He had no patience for this.
She froze.
He stepped around her and got into his car.
Left standing alone, Isabella muttered bitterly, "Nathaniel, are you falling for Harrison? Of course you are! She's a genius. A woman like her could have anyone, yet she chose to marry a man in a coma for three years, playing the devoted wife just for you. If it were me, I'd be moved too!"
Her words made him stop. Slowly, he turned, his cold eyes locking onto her.
"You're right, Isabella. That's exactly what I think. Harrison is brilliant, yet she lowered herself to care for me. She's earned my heart. Why would I settle for you when I have her?"
The truth was out—Harrison had won him over.
Anyone could see it. His feelings for her ran deeper than mere admiration.
Isabella's face flushed with humiliation.
Nathaniel smirked. "You have no right to complain. You're the one who pushed her into my life."
Her face drained of color again. If she hadn't run when Nathaniel was in that accident—if she'd stayed—Harrison would never have entered the picture.
She had no one to blame but herself.
Without another word, Nathaniel got into his Rolls-Royce and sped off.
At Falcon Enterprises, Nathaniel leaned back in his black leather chair, scanning the documents on his desk.
Dominic entered briskly.
He lowered his voice. "Mr. Falcon, we've compiled all the information on Ms. Harrison. After sending her abusive foster father to prison, an anonymous sponsor funded her education. She accelerated through school, completing a dual master's at Westfield by sixteen."
