Chapter 32
This man!
Harrison was furious. She rose on her toes and sank her teeth into Nathaniel's lower lip.
"Damn!" Nathaniel hissed, tasting copper. She'd drawn blood.
His hands shot up to grip her face, squishing her lips into a pout. Fury burned in his gaze. "What the hell? Are you some rabid animal?"
Harrison met his glare with defiance. "You should worry about explaining that lip to Isabella tomorrow. Even with Alexander standing in for you, isn't she still getting my leftovers?"
Nathaniel's jaw tightened.
Leftovers?
This infuriating woman!
"You can sleep around, but stay away from Alexander!"
"Why?" Harrison's voice dripped with mock innocence.
Truth was, Nathaniel considered Alexander a brother. The thought turned his stomach. His eyes raked over her with contempt. "You really think Alexander would want you? Dream on! All you know is shaking your ass in nightclubs. A high school dropout with no degree, no career. He'd play with you for a week tops before tossing you aside."
Harrison's chest constricted. So that was his opinion of her.
Typical male mentality - if they discard something, no one else can have it either.
Instead of anger, a slow smile curved her lips. "Did I look good dancing at The Velvet Lounge tonight?"
Nathaniel blinked. "What?"
Harrison shoved him hard. "From now on, I'll dance for him daily. Different routines every time. I'll make sure he never loses interest."
She spun on her heel and marched upstairs before he could respond.
Nathaniel stood frozen.
Harrison!!!
Harrison entered the bedroom, but Nathaniel followed, his expression stormy. "Eleanor's condition is worsening. We're postponing the divorce. You're staying tonight and playing the doting wife. Understood?"
Though his tone was harsh, Harrison recognized the gravity of Eleanor's health crisis. She nodded.
She turned, offering a sweet smile. "I don't mind. But I wonder if Isabella can wait."
Nathaniel's glare could freeze lava. "You take the bed. I'm on the couch. Showering first."
He disappeared into the bathroom.
Harrison's phone chimed - Oliver calling.
She answered. "Harrison, did you reject Isabella's appointment?"
"Yes."
Oliver's voice turned grave. "You can't. When we accepted, Nathaniel paid an enormous deposit. His legal team just served us papers. They're the best in the country - undefeated. He's demanding compensation that could bankrupt us."
Harrison's stomach dropped.
"Harrison, don't cross Nathaniel. He insists you show at Vitalis Health tomorrow. He wants to see you personally!" Oliver sounded frantic.
Harrison exhaled. Nathaniel always played to win. From the moment Oliver accepted that appointment, she'd been trapped.
"Fine. Tell him I'll be there." Resignation edged her words.
She hung up just as the bathroom door clicked open. Nathaniel emerged, steam curling around his towel-clad form.
