Chapter 327

Harrison felt like she was standing too close to a blazing fire. What game was Nathaniel playing? Did he seriously expect her to call him by his first name?

He was clearly toying with her again.

She shot him a sharp look. Nathaniel merely smirked, visibly amused by her reaction.

The sudden ringing of her phone shattered the tense moment. It felt like divine intervention. Harrison immediately stood up. "Please excuse me, everyone. I need to take this."

Stepping into the hallway, she answered the call. It was Oliver. "Harrison, I've arrived in Willowbrook. Where are you?"

"I'm currently in Wintervale, but I'll be returning in a couple days."

"Alright, I'll wait for you then."

As Harrison ended the call and turned to leave, she collided with a solid, warm chest.

"Oh!"

Her phone slipped from her grasp, tumbling toward the floor.

She lunged to catch it.

But a large, masculine hand intercepted the device mid-fall. Harrison looked up into Nathaniel's striking features. What was he doing out here?

"Mr. Falcon, return my phone!" she demanded.

She reached for it, but Nathaniel held it just beyond her grasp.

What was his problem now?

Rising on her toes, she strained toward him. "That's my property. Give it back!"

Nathaniel gazed down at her with those intense dark eyes. "I'll return it... if you call me Nathaniel."

He'd followed her just for this ridiculous demand.

Harrison tilted her chin defiantly. "Not happening. I don't need your help, and I'm certainly not joining your company."

His lips curved. "So you're not interested in employment?"

He could understand her not working these past years - she'd been caring for him.

But still refusing now?

Harrison wasn't about to reveal her true circumstances. Her bright eyes danced as she replied, "I could never compete with you. You had your first IPO right after graduation. Me? Just a simple housewife, completely disconnected from the real world."

She was deliberately downplaying herself.

Nathaniel couldn't tell if she was serious, but her sparkling wit and vitality captivated him like stars in the night sky.

"So what are your plans then?" he asked softly.

"What plans? Maybe I'll fall in love again, remarry. If I land someone like you, perhaps I'll score big in the divorce and never work again."

Nathaniel gently grasped her chin. "Harrison, I'm being serious."

"So am I. Let go."

She pushed his hand away.

Just then, approaching footsteps and voices interrupted them - Lucas and another colleague were walking down the hall.

"Lucas, I had no idea Harrison was previously married. You're still pursuing her?"

"Divorced, actually. And absolutely I am."

"Seems you're really serious about her."

"She's different. Not like other women I've met."

Their voices faded as they walked away.

Harrison had heard every word. Lucas's interest in her was unmistakable.

Earlier during dinner, she'd deliberately mentioned her past marriage hoping to discourage him.
