Chapter 488

The phone clicked shut in Isabella's hand.

Nathaniel's rich baritone voice suddenly filled the space behind her. "Why are you lingering by the door?"

She turned to see him emerging from the study, documents in hand, with Dominic trailing close behind.

Isabella forced a bright smile. "Just thought I heard something. Don't let me interrupt your work."

Nathaniel's piercing gaze studied her face.

Her pulse quickened. That razor-sharp intuition of his could unravel her plans in an instant.

Dominic stepped forward with another file. "Mr. Falcon, there are still unresolved issues with this contract."

Nathaniel finally broke eye contact. "We'll continue in the study."

As the two men retreated into the study to handle urgent business, Isabella exhaled in relief. A sly smile curled her lips. Her part was done. Now she just had to wait.

By tonight, Harrison's pregnancy would be terminated. No more threats to her position.

Meanwhile, Harrison was speeding toward Gabrielle's apartment when her phone rang. It was Rosalind. "I've been trying to reach Gabrielle but she's not answering."

Rosalind remained unaware of the unfolding crisis.

"Listen carefully - Gabrielle's been kidnapped!" Harrison's voice trembled with urgency.

"What?" Rosalind gasped. "By whom?"

"Nathaniel!"

Rosalind sucked in a sharp breath. "Mr. Falcon? Why would he take Gabrielle?"

"He's forcing me to treat Isabella. He's completely under her spell now. There's nothing he won't do." Harrison's words came out in a rush.

Silence stretched on the other end as Rosalind processed the shocking revelation.

"I'm warning you so you can protect yourself. You might be next!"

Rosalind hesitated. "Actually, Mr. Falcon and I-"

"No time to talk. I'm at Gabrielle's place now." Harrison abruptly ended the call and sprinted into the building.

Having stayed at Gabrielle's before, Harrison had a key. The unlocked door revealed a scene of chaos - clear signs of a violent struggle. The apartment stood eerily silent.

"Gabrielle? Gabrielle!" Her voice echoed through the empty space.

No response.

Harrison pushed open another door to find another empty room.

Then - a faint sound.

She burst into the bathroom and froze at the sight before her.

Gabrielle was being restrained by a black-clad man, his hand muffling her screams.

Harrison's body moved before her mind could process. "Let her go!"

Gabrielle frantically shook her head, eyes wide with warning. Then she sank her teeth into the man's hand. He yelped in pain, loosening his grip.

"Run, Harrison! It's a trap! Behind you!" Gabrielle shrieked.

Harrison whirled around just as another assailant swung a club at her head.

White-hot pain exploded at the base of her skull.

Darkness swallowed her vision as her knees buckled.

In her fading consciousness, she heard Gabrielle's desperate screams. "Harrison! Who are you people? Where are you taking her? Harrison!"
