Chapter 529
Harrison's voice was quiet but final.
She looked Nathaniel straight in the eyes. "It's over. There's no going back now."
Nathaniel's jaw tightened. "That's not true! Just one more chance - I can make everything right again."
With a tired sigh, Harrison wiped her cheeks and gently pushed him away. "You've said enough. Please... just go."
"No, Harrison, listen to me—"
Her hand drifted to her stomach, fingers splaying protectively over the barely noticeable curve. "I'm exhausted. It's late. Leave."
Nathaniel's gaze dropped to her abdomen, his voice softening. "Is this about the baby? I know it's not mine biologically, but I swear I'll love this child as my own. I'll love you both."
Harrison remained silent, her expression unreadable.
He still believed the child wasn't his.
But she wouldn't correct him. Once she dealt with the Whitmore family, she'd be gone. Explanations were pointless now.
"Go."
Seeing the icy detachment in her eyes, Nathaniel exhaled sharply. "Alright. Get some rest. I'll... I'll come by tomorrow."
He turned and walked out.
Standing outside her apartment building, Nathaniel froze. Every fiber of his being screamed to stay, to guard her door all night if necessary.
They'd lost so much time already. He couldn't bear the thought of losing her again - not when they'd just found their way back to each other.
His phone buzzed sharply. Dominic's name flashed on the screen.
"Mr. Falcon, Ms. Isabella is demanding to see you immediately."
Isabella.
Just hearing her name made Nathaniel's blood run cold. He had no desire to face her, but some debts needed settling.
This ends tonight.
"On my way."
Dominic opened the door to a dimly lit room. "She's inside."
Nathaniel strode in, his polished shoes clicking against the concrete floor.
In the far corner, Isabella scrambled to her feet, her designer dress torn and hair disheveled. "Nathaniel! I knew you'd come! After everything we've shared, I knew you couldn't just abandon me!"
She lunged forward, only to be restrained by two broad-shouldered guards.
Dominic placed a chair behind Nathaniel. He sat, crossing one leg over the other as he looked down at her. "Speak."
Isabella swallowed hard. "I admit I pretended to be Harrison. But can you blame me? You're extraordinary - any woman would want you! I fell for you the moment we met. I just wanted to be her... to be loved by you!"
Nathaniel's lips curled into a humorless smile. "You speak of our time together? Those were years stolen from Harrison. Every touch, every word - they were meant for her. You were never anything more than a pale imitation. A shadow where there should have been light."
Isabella had always been a counterfeit version of the real woman he loved.
