Chapter 549
The moment Nathaniel heard Harrison mention Victoria, his chest constricted painfully.
"Mother."
Victoria's tone was razor-sharp, leaving no room for argument. "I've warned you before—I tolerate your dalliances, but don't you dare let your heart get entangled. Now Henry Lancaster himself called, claiming you're willing to discard his daughter for Harrison. Is this true?"
Nathaniel didn't hesitate. "Yes. Harrison is the only woman I love. I won't marry anyone else."
"You fool!" Victoria's voice crackled with fury. "You're utterly bewitched by that woman! The marriage alliance between the Falcon and Lancaster families is non-negotiable. Now that Henry has found his daughter, you will honor the agreement and wed her immediately."
Nathaniel's jaw tightened, his expression darkening. "Mother—"
"I've arranged for the private jet. I'll be in Willowbrook tomorrow."
The line went dead with a sharp click.
Victoria was coming.
Nathaniel stood frozen outside the car for a long moment before finally sliding into the driver's seat. "I'll take you home," he murmured.
Harrison nodded. "Alright."
Rosalind twisted in the front passenger seat, her voice laced with concern. "Mr. Falcon, what did Mrs. Victoria say?"
Nathaniel's gaze flicked to the rearview mirror, locking with Harrison's searching eyes. They held each other's stare for a beat before he answered. "She's arriving in Willowbrook tomorrow."
He offered no further explanation.
Rosalind gasped. "She's coming here? After all these years confined to that wheelchair, refusing to leave the estate—she's actually traveling to Willowbrook?"
She hesitated, then added carefully, "You've been away from Metropolia for too long. Shouldn't you return soon?"
Nathaniel's lips pressed into a thin line, silent.
Harrison remained equally quiet in the backseat. Thirty minutes later, the Rolls-Royce Shadow glided to a stop outside The Regal Residences.
Nathaniel opened the door, and Harrison stepped out.
He hesitated, his gaze lingering on her. "Harrison, I—"
She cut him off, her voice steady but firm. "Mr. Falcon, I don’t know what you intend to say, but let me repeat myself—we’re divorced. There are no ties between us anymore. So don’t concern yourself with me. Handle your obligations. I refuse to be caught in the crossfire between the Falcon and Lancaster families. Do you understand?"
Nathaniel had so much to say, but her words rendered him speechless. He simply stood there, mute.
Just then, Oliver approached. "Hey, Harrison."
Harrison moved toward him.
Oliver draped an arm around her shoulders. "Tired?"
She shook her head. "I'm fine."
Nathaniel’s eyes narrowed at the sight of Oliver’s arm around Harrison. His fingers curled into fists at his sides.
Harrison exhaled, leaning into Oliver’s chest. "Let’s just go home."
Oliver glanced at Nathaniel. "Thanks for bringing Harrison back, Mr. Falcon. See you around."
With that, he took Harrison’s hand, and they walked away.
Nathaniel stood rooted in place, his gaze burning into their retreating figures.
No matter what he did, no matter how hard he tried—Harrison was no longer his.
Rosalind sighed beside him. "You see it now, don’t you? You hurt her too deeply. She’s moved on."
Even as the distance grew, Harrison could feel Nathaniel’s eyes on her back, relentless and unyielding.
