Chapter 759
Harrison stood frozen at the hospital room's threshold, her breath catching at the unexpected scene before her.
Isabella perched on the edge of Nathaniel's bed, her fingers tracing the sharp line of his jaw with unsettling tenderness. The man lay motionless in his hospital gown, still unconscious, while Isabella's gaze lingered with an intimacy that made Harrison's stomach twist.
Rosalind's sharp voice shattered the heavy silence. "Isabella, what are you doing here?"
The woman turned, her lips curling into a smirk as she spotted them. She rose gracefully, sauntering toward Harrison with deliberate steps.
"What a coincidence," Isabella purred. "Today was supposed to be your wedding day, wasn't it? Yet here Nathaniel is—with me. Did you wait at the courthouse all alone? How... pathetic."
Rosalind bristled, but Harrison silenced her with a glance. Her voice was ice. "You've been with him all day?"
"Of course," Isabella shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "We have history. He's never stopped caring for me. Does that bother you?"
Now Harrison understood. Love wasn't meant for three. There was no room for intruders, especially not ones like Isabella.
A cold laugh escaped her. "Jealous? Hardly."
Without another word, she turned on her heel and walked away, her expression unreadable.
Rosalind shot Isabella a venomous glare. "You're like a parasite. Can't exist unless you're ruining something beautiful. Disgusting."
She stormed off after Harrison, leaving Isabella seething.
"Excuse me?" Isabella snapped, but they were already gone.
Harrison's composure had been infuriating. No tears, no outburst—just calm dismissal. It wasn't the reaction Isabella had anticipated, and that only fueled her rage.
A soft groan came from the bed.
Nathaniel stirred, his eyelids fluttering open.
Isabella immediately softened her expression, rushing to his side. "Nathaniel! You're awake!"
He blinked, disoriented, before pushing himself upright with effort. "Why am I in the hospital?"
"You collapsed outside," Isabella explained smoothly. "I brought you here."
A sharp pain lanced through his skull, but one thought eclipsed it—
Harrison.
He threw off the covers, swinging his legs over the edge. "I need to find Harrison."
Isabella didn't move to stop him. Instead, she smiled. "She already came by."
Nathaniel froze. "What?"
"She saw me here and left. Didn't seem very pleased."
His stomach dropped. Of course she'd misunderstand. Any woman would after being stood up at the altar only to find her fiancé with another woman.
"I have to explain."
He rushed into the hallway, but a sudden, blinding pain sent him staggering against the wall.
Isabella was at his side instantly. "You need to rest. You're not well."
Nathaniel's gaze sharpened as he studied her. Something felt... off.
She shifted under his scrutiny. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
He exhaled slowly. "No reason."
